Andrew J. Forino of Seventh Avenue, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Stratton VA Hospital in Albany. He was 80.

Born in Mechanicville on March 16, 1931 son of the late Patrick and Olympia (Ferrara) Forino.

Mr. Forino was a graduate of the Mechanicville High School and the Albany Business College. He served in the US Army from 1952-1954, attaining the rank of Corporal. He went on to become a manager at the Association of General Contractors in Albany where he was awarded contracts for state jobs in bridge work and waterways, retiring after 30 years of service in 1985. Andrew was a parishioner of the All Saints on the Hudson Church and a member of the VFW Post 6328. His friends and family will miss his Italian cooking, a passion of his for over 60 years.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Santagato of Mechanicville and sister-in-laws Mary and Anna Forino, his nieces and nephews, John and Donna Forino, and their children Danielle and Johnny, Diane Forino and Jay Vredenburg, Judy Forino-Fantauzzi, Deb and Frank Zima, Annie and Mike McQuade, Mary Forino, and Patricia and Tom Markessinis, as well as several great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Andrew is predeceased by his sister, Margaret Erano and brothers Patrick, Vincent and Anthony Forino.

Relatives and friends may call from 10am to 12noon on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 at All Saints on the Hudson Church, South Campus, Mechanicville. Burial with military honors will be in the family plot in St. Paul's Cemetery.

A special thank you Dr. Julie Phillips and to all the wonderful nurses and volunteers in the Hospice Unit at the VA Hospital. Also to Fr. Turnbull and Fr. Grasso who for many years prepared Uncle Andrew for his spiritual journey and his homecoming with the Lord.
