Jean D. Mahar

Mahar - Mechanicville, Saratoga County Jean D. Mahar, formerly of Stillwater, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. She was 94.

Jean was born on December 19, 1918 in Mechanicville, daughter of the late Albert and Mayme (Dinsmore) Wagner. She is the widow of the late Richard C. Mahar who passed away in 1994.

A graduate of Stillwater High School, she went on to work at the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Mill. She was a member of the former Stillwater United Methodist Church, a life member and past president of the Earl J. Manning American Legion Post 490 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, shopping, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. She was very proud of her grandchildren; she bragged about them to anyone that would listen. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her two sons, Jeffrey (Sharon) Mahar of Stillwater and Gregory (LaJohna) Mahar of Mechanicville, five grandchildren, Jennifer Riley of Malta, Shane (Amanda) Mahar of Niskayuna, Brady Mahar of Lake Hiawatha, NJ and Mallory and Madison Mahar of Mechanicville.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean is predeceased by her brothers, Albert and George Wagner.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-7pm on Tuesday, February 5 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday at the All Saints on the Hudson Church, North (St. Peters). Burial will be in the family plot in Stillwater Union Cemetery.
