James Adam Wagar, Sr.

James Adam Wagar,Sr. Greenwich, New York

James Adam Wagar,Sr., passed away on January 24,2013 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was 79.

Born in Troy on March 23, 1933, son of the late Stanley and Catherine (Mulready) Wagar.

Jim is a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Trailways after 38 years, returning as the Safety Director. He was proud to have earned the Million Mile Driver Award and in his ventures, he drove for Helen Reddy, the Harlem Globetrotters, Playboy Bunnies, Tom Jones, Little Richard and too many others to mention. Jim and Eleanor were avid Bluegrass followers and members of the Adirondack Bluegrass. He is a Past Commander of the American Legion Earl J. Manning Post 490 and a Life Member of the Rensselaer Elks Club. Jim also did volunteer work for the Special Olympics.

Survivors include his wife Eleanor Snow Wagar whom he married on August 8, 2004. He is the loving father of Linda (Jim) Haughney, Jr. of Clifton Park, James (Lila)Wagar of San Diego, CA, their adopted son Keith (Marion)Wagar of Greenwich, 4 step sons, Eddie(Melinda) Snow of Chicago, Il, Tom (Jennie) Snow of VT, Jeff (Sarah) Snow of NH, Rick (Lorrie) Snow of VT, 6 grandchildren, Lisa (Michael) Connally of Albany, James (Angelique)Haughney III, of Troy, Rebecca Wagar of MS, Adison Wagar of San Diego, CA, April (Jeremy) Sherman of Cobleskill and Julie (Ryan) Flute of Clifton Park as well as many great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call from 2-4pm on Sunday, January 27 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, NY 12170. Prayer service will follow at 4pm. Burial will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers consider donations to the Down's Syndrome Aim High Resource Center, 22 Corporate Woods Blvd, 5th floor, Albany, NY 12211, or to the March of Dimes, 80 Wolf Rd, Albany, NY 12205 in Jim's honor.
