James I. Fisk, Jr.

James I. Fisk, Jr., formerly of Melrose, passed away at his residence after being stricken on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. He was 51.

Born on August 30, 1961 in Troy, son of Alice (Connally) Fisk and the late James I. Fisk, Sr. Mr. Fisk is the husband of Veronica (Davis) Fisk of Cohoes. Jim is reunited with his sister Alison Fisk Urzan.

Jim worked as an auto mechanic for various garages in the area for over 30 years. He loved spending time with his family and was a well known area drummer for 36 years, playing with various local music groups, often playing at benefits for other people. He enjoyed tinkering with automobiles, specializing in foreign vehicles.

Survivors in addition to his mother Alice of Melrose and wife Veronica of Cohoes include his son, Andrew J. Fisk of South Glens Falls and stepchildren Nicholas and Charlee of Cohoes, his sister, Carrie (Dean) Rudebush, his niece Meaghan H. Davis (Ben) and nephew Michael Lefebvre as well as his great nieces Rileigh Alison Davis and Kaidence Jean Davis, all of Schaghticoke. Also survived by brother-in-law Walter P. Urzan of Troy.  Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and many, many friends.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-7pm on Wednesday, January 16 at the Chase-Smith  Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. Funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Lansingburgh.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, Office of the Recording Secretary, 124 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA 02138 in memory of Alison Fisk Urzan. Please make checks out to President and Fellows of Harvard College.
