Scotia - Coons, Dorothy

Dorothy Coons of Mohawk Avenue, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. She was 61.

Born on April 12, 1951 in Troy, to the late William and Dorothy (Donahue) Bortell. Dorothy was a giving and caring person and she enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was employed by Albany Medical Center as a nurse.

Survivors include her two daughters Heather Gilbert of Hoosick Falls and Rebecca Coons of Edmond, Ok, Her four grandchildren, Ashley E. Vascherault, Emily Ann Gilbert, Isabelle C. Gilbert all of Hoosic Falls as well as Noah Christopher Leon of Edmond, OK. Dorothy also leaves behind a good friend, Joseph Smith of Scotia.

Relatives and friends may call from 10-11am on Thursday, January 10 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring at the family plot in Hudson View Cemetery.
